Fashion at Westminster
This is an exciting time for fashion at the University of Westminster. Building on our outstanding international reputation for our BA Fashion Design, we have recently launched our ground-breaking two-year MA Menswear course, as well as the Westminster Menswear Archive, another global first for the University of Westminster.
The BA Fashion Design course at Westminster is famous for producing highly individual and creative fashion designers capable of working within all levels of the fashion industry. Graduates include Christopher Bailey, Roberta Einer, Claire Barrow, Ashley Williams, Stuart Vevers, and Liam Hodges.
Our world-class internship programme allows students to work within the fashion industry for a year, usually abroad in Paris, New York or Milan. Current examples of where students are interning include Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Celine, Maison Margiela, Dior, Versace, Balmain, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Thom Browne, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang.
We are seeking an inspirational creative individual who is passionate about teaching fashion design, and that has a higher degree in a relevant subject area and an excellent fashion industry background with significant experience in developing industry links for live projects. You will make a significant contribution to employability through creating and maintaining links with industry at both national and international level.
Fashion at Westminster has an exceptional reputation for having a strong conceptual context for its teaching in design underpinned with excellent industry contacts that ensure that graduates have both the creative and commercial skills to enable them to flourish at the very top of their profession internationally.
We are looking for applicants who have skills in all aspects of fashion design but are particularly interested in applicants with excellent in-depth knowledge of contemporary developments within the international fashion industry and how that relates to fashion pedagogy.
We seek candidates that have qualifications in a related field and have taught at undergraduate degree level. The post will combine the professional experience of the fashion business arena and industry, linked with innovative practice and academic expertise and ambition.
The Fashion Industry Cluster is a growth area of the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design and there are opportunities for the right candidate to develop the role and subject area further in line with the Cluster strategy.
