This post is full time and fixed term maternity cover for 12 months, working 35 hours per week.

The credit control team consists of 6 team members and a team leader. We are based within the Financial Services Department, who are based at the Wells Street site in London, providing a centrally managed and locally delivered service to the Universities principal locations. The Financial Services Team is a dedicated team providing Finance Transaction support and specialist professional advice to the Corporate Services.

We are looking for maternity cover for a member of staff in a 12-month contract. As a member of the Credit Control team the Credit Control Assistant is responsible for contributing to the complete, accurate and efficient operation of the section and to assist with the training and seamless integration of new team members. Each team member will deal with all aspects of the role; to make a positive contribution to the team and to resolve any issues which arise promptly and efficiently. 

The successful candidate will vigorously chase debts by way of sending out statements of account, by telephone and other methods of communication such as e mail. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the general debtor ledgers of the University. The successful candidate would also be required to undertake any other appropriate duties as required by the Credit Control team leader.

The successful candidate will be educated to A Level or equivalent practical experience. Professional qualifications such as being qualified or part qualified for CICM, ACCA, CIMA, ACA is desirable. 

You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to deal professionally and efficiently with staff at all levels both within the organisation and externally. Also, the ability to work within a team environment but also work without supervision for extended periods, having the skills to self-prioritise and work effectively unsupervised.   You will have excellent numeracy and computer literacy. An excellent customer-focused approach and the ability to demonstrate this approach in personal working practices is essential. 

An ability to work under pressure with meeting strict deadlines is essential and you will have a commitment to professional development. Experience of the Unit4/Agresso and SITS/Tribal Student Record Systems is desirable; however, experience in the use of a computerised financial management system will be essential. The successful candidate will have experience in providing support, advice, and services to a wide range of customers and experience of working as a member of a customer facing team.
