Principal Lecturer – Director of Professional Development
Ref. 50051917

Salary: £56,755 - £63,278 per annum (Incl.LWA)

Department: Centre for Teaching Innovation

Location: Central London

The Centre for Teaching Innovation (CTI) was formally launched in March 2017 with the mission of ‘enhancing students’ experience by providing strategic academic leadership in learning and teaching and offering a space for pedagogic reflection, development and innovation, which is research-informed, coherent, inclusive, intercultural, and relevant for the needs of today’s students, and which has a distinctive Westminster identity’.

The CTI provides university leadership in learning and teaching, by developing strategies to inspire on-going professional learning and development and to act as an incubator for innovation, enabling staff and students to collaborate on creating the kind of unique learning opportunities that our students need in the ever-changing 21st century world. It acts as a champion of learning and teaching within and beyond the University, supporting colleagues in gaining recognition for their teaching - not only through accredited courses and teaching awards but also through routes to career progression - and establishing a culture of pedagogic scholarship and research across the University community as well as in collaboration with other local, national and international communities.

We are looking to recruit a Principal Lecturer to join the CTI team and provide academic leadership for the University’s professional development strategy in relation to staff involved in learning and teaching. This involves institutional strategic oversight, development and evaluation of broader professional development and recognition initiatives, such as those which are benchmarked to the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in HE (UKPSF), as well as other activities such as seminar series, mentoring, peer observation and teaching awards. The role includes being the academic lead for the PG Certificate in Higher Education as part of PRESTige, the University’s accredited scheme for awarding HEA fellowships.

The successful candidate will have management/leadership experience in learning and teaching and have an excellent scholarship and research record, preferably in the field of education/pedagogy.
