Senior Lecturer in Economics
Ref. 50053493

Salary: SL - £48,308 - £55,241 p.a. (incl. L.W.A.)

Department: Organisations, Economy & Society

Location: Central London

With a history that dates back to 1838 and a unique place in London’s educational landscape, we have a reputation for inclusiveness and for providing a transformative student experience. You will be based at the University’s Marylebone site, opposite Baker Street Station, centrally located and immersed in London’s business community. We see London as very much part of our field of enquiry; it offers opportunities for staff and students to work closely with outside organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

The post sits within the newly established School of Organisations, Economy and Society, a constituent part of Westminster Business School which has an exceptional reputation for practice-informed teaching and research. You will become part of a community of around 60 academic staff with a shared focus on the development, operation and leadership of responsible and sustainable organisations in an international context. Over a third of the staff in the new School are Economists, with a range of disciplinary backgrounds and research interests. The School hosts the internationally acclaimed Centre for Employment Research which contributes to the development of public policy through research funded by the UK government, professional bodies, the UK funding councils and also commercial companies.

This is an exciting time to join us as we review and extend our portfolio of courses and build our research capacity. At undergraduate level, the School hosts a BSc Business Economics and BA Business Management-Economics, alongside courses in International Business, HRM and Entrepreneurship. We offer an MSc in International Economic Policy and Analysis, designed in collaboration with the UK Government Economic Service, and a range of other Masters’ programmes in Entrepreneurship, International Business and Management, HRM, International Development Management, as well an AMBA-accredited MBA.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, creative and innovative individual who can contribute to the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Economics, broadly defined, but we have a particular need for someone able to offer expertise in Macroeconomics, including Monetary Economics. The successful candidate will be able to undertake high quality research and contribute to our academic enterprise activities.

As a Senior Lecturer, the post holder will be expected to take on leadership roles at module or course level as determined by the needs of the School, and manage, motivate and act as a mentor to junior colleagues.

You will hold a Doctorate in a relevant area (or have equivalent qualifications and/or experience), will have teaching experience and a recognised teaching qualification or HEA Fellowship, evidence of the ability to produce international quality research and have a well-established personal reputation and professional standing.
