This post is full time, 35 hours per week and is fixed term until 30 September 2024. We are advertising this role as a full time position but will also consider part-time and flexible candidates.
We are looking for a communications consultant to review and revitalise how we communicate the life changing employability services on offer at the University of Westminster.
Employability is one of the four key objectives in the University’s new strategy, ‘Being Westminster 2022-29’, with the goal of connecting students with employers to support graduate career success. With over 20,000 students and employability opportunities offered within every course as well as impactful extra-curricular programmes this role has been created to increase the number of students engaging with these opportunities and to raise the profile of our employability programmes and teams within our student and colleague community.
You will work with colleagues in our Business Engagement and Careers and Employability services to build a picture of current practice. You will engage with our student and academic populations to understand barriers to, and entries into, engagement with employability programmes and you will work with the Communications Team to develop new ways of working to deliver increased participation and overall understanding of employability at Westminster.
Key success in this role will be your ability to build strong relationships with people from all walks of life.
The fundamental skills, knowledge and experience needed are:
- Experience of delivering large scale communication campaigns.
- Experience of conducting research or audits
- Demonstrable communication skills, understanding the need to tailor messages and delivery to impact different audiences and taking an audience first perspective.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to understand multiple perspectives and needs and represent these.
- The ability to work independently, delivering your work alongside multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Skills to influence and bring senior leadership along with your plans.
- A genuine interest in the work of the University, the success of its students and the ability to work as part of a team.
