The Student Research Manager is a new post and it forms part of the successful Quintin Hogg Trust (QHT) funded project Westminster Students as Researchers.

A key principle of the University’s Making a Difference: Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy 2022-2029 is that “Westminster students are researchers”. This is something we believe very firmly, and this project will enable us to explore what this means in practice through operationalising the principle across all our Schools in creative and meaningful ways to enhance our students’ employability and the experience of active and authentic assessment, to increase networks for our students, and to position Westminster as a leading exemplar of the nexus of research and education.

The post holder will have proven leadership experience as well as a good working knowledge of research and the REF. They will develop, deliver and lead implementation of a new student research programme, engaging current undergraduate and postgraduate students in a range of research projects and activities across the our Schools and Colleges.

They will manage the day to day running of the project, raising awareness of opportunities, processing applications for support, monitoring and supporting live research activities, auditing and reporting on outcomes, and supporting Schools in the development of their School-specific activities to help deliver the University’s strategic commitment to ‘offer every student the opportunity to experience and benefit from learning in a research and knowledge exchange environment.’

We have a Smart Working approach that allows for some off-site working; it is expected that the post holder will be onsite for an average of three days per week at a minimum. Other arrangements are subject to agreement through our Flexible Working Policy and Procedure.
