The Centre for Employment Research (CER) specialises in the use of experimental and quasi-experimental methods to investigate ‘what works’ in education and employment policy and practice, helping the University of Westminster secure the second highest REF 2021 Impact score nationally in Business and Management. CER staff work with population-level administrative datasets to study, for example, earnings, education and social mobility, and implement employer trials to test a range of workplace interventions. We have worked for many years with employers to investigate workplace conflict and interventions that improve outcomes, including ESRC-funded studies developing and testing online training interventions to support managers. We have spun-out a commercial version of these interventions in collaboration with Acas.
We are looking to further strengthen the CER team with the appointment of a Principal Research Fellow in Conflict Management. Applicants should have a strong record of research, influence on practice, discourse and debate across legal, HR and policy professions; securing their own funding as Principal Investigator and providing leadership to researchers in mixed methods investigations.
We welcome those with imagination and creativity, who will find an environment that provides the freedom to generate research ideas and the encouragement to develop further project proposals and expertise. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research centre, with staff working at the forefront of the discipline.
