The College of Design, Creative and Digital Industries (DCDI) at the University of Westminster is seeking an experienced Team Leader for Digital Imaging. Our college is renowned for its innovation and academic excellence across Media, Arts, Design, Architecture, and Technology, integrating technological advances with creative exploration as a cornerstone of our philosophy.

As the Team Leader – Digital Imaging, you will develop and lead the Digital Imaging team, ensuring high-quality, customer-focused technical services for staff, students, and external clients. You will collaborate with the Technical Manager and Head Technician to manage the team and resources, supporting teaching, research, and knowledge exchange activities within Harrow.

You will lead and manage a team of Technician staff, ensuring compliance with people management policies and promoting effective relations with other academic and professional service areas. Your role includes maintaining Health and Safety standards, providing feedback and guidance to your team, instructing users in the safe use of equipment, and managing technical support for academic staff and students. Additionally, you will oversee the maintenance and minor repairs of equipment, manage stock levels, and participate in relevant internal and external networks.

Photography education at the University of Westminster has a tradition dating back to 1839, with the world’s first photography degree delivered at our predecessor, the Regent Street Polytechnic. Our courses have always reflected and influenced the state of the art. In this role, you will ensure that our photography department remains relevant and cutting-edge, continuing its legacy of excellence and innovation for future generations.

You will be educated to degree level in Photography or a similar Media discipline. You will also have demonstrable experience in technical staff management, a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, and experience in one or more of the following areas: Photography, Digital Media, or New and Emerging Image Technologies (Photogrammetry, 360 Imaging, Scanning). You will possess excellent IT skills, interpersonal communication, and planning abilities, and are adept at solving practical dilemmas. Your approach will be customer-focused, flexible, and committed to continuous professional development. Additionally, a relevant post-graduate or professional qualification and experience in a Higher Education environment would be desirable.
