This post is full time, 35 hours per week and is fixed-term until the 1st of August 2023 with flexible, remote working options.

The University of Westminster is recruiting a Development Officer (Major Gifts) to join its award-winning Development and Alumni Relations Team. Recognising the changing way people work now, there’s lots of scope for you to work remotely from home too.

This opportunity comes at an exciting time in the University of Westminster’s story, with the Development Team placed at the heart of the institution’s plans for a major new enterprise centre in Marylebone. The centre will have a particular focus on inclusive enterprise and digital upskilling, attracting and developing entrepreneurs who come from some of London’s most diverse communities.

This role is responsible for securing funding from a portfolio of individuals and organisations and stewarding existing donors to help deliver a range of projects. These projects include scholarships and bursaries for underrepresented groups and a range of community programmes.

You will join an ambitious and incredibly supportive team that, in the last academic year, raised a record amount from an increasing number of diverse donors to support more students through these inclusive projects and programmes.

Evidence of previous philanthropic fundraising for gifts over £1,000 would be advantageous. However, we will also consider applications from individuals with relevant experience in marketing/sales within a target-driven environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as the post holder will build and maintain excellent working relationships across the University.

Reporting into the Development Manager (Major Gifts), the successful candidate will also support other Development-related tasks, fitting in with a small but agile team that prides itself on teamwork.

The position comes with a generous annual leave entitlement of 35 days plus bank holidays and Christmas closure.
