  • About The Post

  • This post is part-time and permanent, working 21 hours per week. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full time salary would be £41,086 - £46,542  per annum (Incl. LWA).

This post is not suitable for further job share, it is already been fractionalised at 0.6 FTE. As a student-facing, campus-based technical role, it is not eligible for hybrid working arrangements.

We're looking for a Technician in Computational Arts to join our technical services team, supporting teaching and practice across computational arts, games development, immersive media and physical computing. This is a hands-on, specialist role at the heart of how our students explore emerging creative technologies, from real-time engines and interactive media to Arduino-based physical computing and AI-assisted creative workflows.

You'll be part of a team delivering across disciplines, helping shape the learning experience that makes this teaching possible for the next generation of creative technologists, artists and games developers, in facilities that mirror the industry they're heading into, supported by an inclusive, experienced team.

You'll deliver technical demonstrations and workshops, provide one-to-one guidance, and act as the in-house expert on specialist software, hardware and creative-technology tools — translating creative intent into working code alongside students who may have little or no coding background themselves.

    What you'll bring:

    • Strong programming ability in C# (real-time engine development) and C/C++ (microcontroller/physical computing platforms such as Arduino)
    • Hands-on experience with creative technologies such as games engines, real-time graphics and interactive media
    • Confidence in teaching and troubleshooting technical concepts for learners at all levels
    • A curious, adaptable approach to evaluating and adopting new tools as the field evolves
    • A collaborative, customer-focused way of working within a technical team

    Why this role:

You'll support exciting teaching and student development in a genuinely distinct specialism at the intersection of code and creative practice, shaping how students bring ambitious, technically demanding ideas to life.
