This post is full time, 35 hours per week and is fixed term for 2 years.

The Research Fellow will contribute to research on the UKRI project “Decolonising Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Higher Education: Innovations in Theory, Policy and Practice” under the supervision of the PI, Dr Adrija Dey. The project aims to  present new, inclusive, and survivor-centric understandings of SGBV in HE through a programme of research that is survivor centred, empirically grounded, and theoretically informed. Keeping ideas of prevention, abolition and change of culture at its core, the proposed research will decolonise understandings of SGBV in HE by focusing on lessons from institutional practices and feminist struggles in the Global South. This project is committed to centring voices at the margins and of survivors.

The postholder will conduct individual and collaborative research projects. Duties to include: consolidate, map and archive existing data available online on SGBV in HE on one online platform; develop interview questionnaire, analysis and interpretation of research data; use of appropriate research techniques and methods; writing up of research results and dissemination through publications, seminar and conference presentations and public engagement and outreach activities.

The successful candidate will need to have knowledge in the area of sexual and gender based violence and ability  to engage in high quality research in the area. Experience of working in the area of sexual and gender based violence (research or practice), survivor centred research or abolition and transformative justice methods would be highly desirable. Evidence of publication of research work in high profile journals and engagement in public dissemination is essential along with ability to independently create review of literatures in the area of study, work on innovative research methodologies, and ability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals for own and joint research.
